As Full Moon Rises, Let Go

11/3/2017

This month’s Full Moon – also known as the Frost Moon or Mourning Moon – appears on Saturday, Nov 4. For those looking to view the moon though, it will appear the fullest on Nov 3.

The Frost Moon received its name from Native Americans since the moon typically coincides with the season’s first frost. In the spiritual sense, it is referred to as a Mourning Moon and symbolizes a time to reflect, make personal changes and let go of the past.

With the holidays and end of the year approaching, now is a good time to focus on your psyche, restore your emotions and clear away reminders of the past. Here are some tips:
  • Think about how you mourn. Full moons are known to bring emotions into focus. This month think about how you feel and don’t rush through or ignore your feelings. Never underestimate the power of a good cry.
  • Burn your Moon Candle! Use the power of the moon to harness your feminine energy, recharge your stones and yourself. This Fire Elixir is most powerful when used during different phases of the moon to best tap into your energy.
  • Let go. A new moon is a good chance to let go. Focus on anything you’ve been holding onto that you don’t need – that pile of cards from your ex or pair of shoes that you never wear. Give your feelings – and your personal space – room to breathe.
  • Share. Full moons have a way bringing truths into the light. Lean into this energy and share something you’ve been meaning to tell a friend or loved one. Or embrace the Mourning Moon and write a letter to a loved one who has passed on.

This month’s Moon will be close to the Moon’s perigee (or closest point to the Earth) so will have a stunning appearance. But you’ll want to mark your calendar for next month’s Full Moon on Dec 3 which is a Super Moon – and sure to be a spectacular sight!
